Dear Colleagues,

 

                This month's message takes a somber turn - Hurricane Katrinia.

 

                I'm sure that many of you have listened and read the reports of the devastation of New Orleans and the surrounding areas along the Gulf and Mississippi River.  Nature has dealt another harsh blow to our civilization.

 

                Some have been directly involved in relief activities.  The artistic world has tried to provide entertainment to encourage citizens to contribute money.  Religious organizations and the Red Cross have set up sites for us to contribute funds too.  Local utility workers have taken their vacation time to donate services to an aleady overworked community.  I'm sure that our colleagues "Down South" are busy giving time and services to aide the many who have no where else to go and have lost everything.

 

               My thoughts center on what we might do to support these people.  The country supported our tri - state area after 9/11.  I'd like to see us contribute our talents, in some way, during this month or recovery and if necessary in the months to follow.

 

               Our first meeting will be on September 25th. (For specific details, go to the meetings link).  We have a wonderful program planned (with 2 CEU's) and I'd also like you to come with ideas concerning this project.  If you're unavailable to attend the meeting, please send your ideas to me or anyone on the board.

 

                If anyone has relatives affected by Katrinia's fury, please accept our condolences, prayer, and best wishes.  HOPE BRINGS HEALING!  Let us "hope" that we respond to the call.
